Phelan & Stodulski CGA originated in 2001 as a partnership between Brenda Potter Phelan, CGA and Janeen Stodulski, CGA. Together, they provide focused, value added services to meet the needs of business owners for increased profitability, higher returns and reduced business risk. This could include helping clients prepare and organize information or working to improve the quality of the information or its context for decision making. The focus is on outcomes and helping clients arrive at optimum decisions.
Brenda Potter-Phelan
Brenda earned her BA from York University in Economics and is both a Certified General Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner. Brenda spent the first 15 years of her career in industry, overseeing the financial, accounting, treasury and administrative functions for a number of fast-paced, entrepreneurial organizations involved in retail, manufacturing and distribution. She has a proven track record of managing change. Brenda is a business generalist, with a broad perspective who thrives on working hard with smart people on projects that matter. Her particular emphasis is on cash/cost control management, profit and process improvement, internal control/systems development and business planning and forecasting.
Brendas particular emphasis in the firm is on controllership, business advisory, business planning and personal tax and financial planning. She is also a certified advisor for MYOB and BusinessVision software.
Brenda is a volunteer advisor with the Halton Professional Advisors network, past CFO/President of the Oakville PC Riding Association, Fundraising Chair of St. Vincent School and a G50 Task Force member for CGA Ontario. Brenda is a member of the Women Entrepreneurs of Canada. She is also an Oakville Little league Baseball Coach for one of her two sons.
Janeen Stodulski
Janeen earned her BA from Brock University in Physical Education prior to receiving her CGA designation. Janeen gained experience in the tourism and manufacturing industries prior to moving into the not-for-profit sector, where she was the controller for an international congregation of Catholic Priests.
Janeens particular interest is in the corporate sector, with a strong emphasis on tax, having completed the CICA In-depth taxation course. Janeens strong organizational skills, get it done personality and diverse accounting background enable her to deliver successful results in the most challenging of engagements. Janeen has extensive experience in system implementation and has been a certified advisor for QuickBooks since 1997.
Having been an educator in the private school system, Janeen combines her love for education and business in the preparation and presentation of informative and dynamic seminars for business and special interest groups.
Janeen is the chair of the Public Practice Committee, CGA Peel Chapter, a member of the Prime Ministers Task Force for Women Entrepreneurs, Past treasurer and Board Member for Thistleoaks Child Care Centre, a G50 Task Force member and a Committee Member for both Larger Practice Units and Professional Standards for CGA Ontario and CGA Canada. Janeen is a member of the Women Entrepreneurs of Canada. Janeen is also a mom to three active boys under 7.
